Nurseries

We have a dedicated tree nursery at each campus hosting nearly a thousand seedlings. Almost all of these are species of endangered rainforest trees indigenous to our region such as Shorea sumatrana and Hopea ferrea. We also raise other native species of botanical or cultural interest such as Moringa oleifera - the so-called "Miracle Tree" as well as more common local trees such as Java Olive (Sterculia foetida) and Saga (Adenanthera pavonina) - which enhance the biodiversity on our campuses by attractive native insects and birds.

The development of our nurseries was made possible through the generous support of the Kirtida and Bharat Mekani Environmental Sustainability Fund, a major gift via the UWCSEA Foundation.

Dover's Rainforest Nursery is temporarily housed opposite Kurt Hahn house while our new Ecology Centre is constructed

East

East's nursery is on the 6th floor of the B block and forms part of a dedicated urban gardening space.
Our wonderful patron Kirtida Mekani is pictured with the first students to set up the RRP at East campus.
